Variety description

Cabernet Splash' is the eccentric among cultivated blueberries. The shrub really catches the eye, even if it grows rather compact: the foliage is really beautiful wine-red, an eye-catcher. The taste of the berries has nothing to do with "Cabernet", the association with wine is entirely dedicated to the foliage. Already the shoot is wine-red, towards the summer the plant is mottled with green-red, only to turn dark red again in the autumn. The foliage is particularly noticeable when the plant is placed next to green-leaved varieties. As well as being decorative, 'Cabernet Splash' produces large, sweet berries that ripen from mid-July.
'Cabernet Splash' is very robust, well established, even strong winters do not cause any damage. Like all blueberries, it is also absolutely dependent on the acidic soil of a bog bed. A good supply of water and nutrients (bog bed fertiliser) is particularly important when cultivating in a bucket.
