Variety description

The OpenSky® 'Amberone®' tomato is an exceptional variety. OpenSky® 'Amberone®' has medium-sized, date- or plum-shaped fruits with a striking colour, featuring an orange base and distinct dark purple stripes. Even when unripe, the stripes – which are still green at this stage – are clearly visible on OpenSky® 'Amberone®'. OpenSky® 'Amberone®' also impresses with its flavour. In many tastings, OpenSky® 'Amberone®' is the favourite. OpenSky® 'Amberone®' has a pleasantly sweet taste with a subtle spiciness and only a very mild acidity. OpenSky® 'Amberone®' is best harvested when fully ripe, once the stripes have taken on a purple hue.

The high-yielding open-ground tomato OpenSky® 'Amberone®' has a medium-vigorous growth habit, making it easy to train to a single stem without any loss of yield. A characteristic feature of OpenSky® 'Amberone®' is its dark, almost green-blue foliage, which, typical of the variety, hangs down. OpenSky® 'Amberone®' has good to high tolerance to late blight.
