Variety description

The columnar apple tree Redini® 'Cuckoo' impresses with its red flesh and its fresh berry aroma. In addition to the conventional columnar apple trees from the Malini® series, there is also Redini® 'Cuckoo', the only representative of the red-fleshed apples among the columnar apples. Now Redini® 'Cuckoo' is not just another columnar apple among many others but rather a 4-season apple. In spring the red-purple flowers are captivating with their ornamental value, over the summer the dark red apples ripen and are harvested in autumn and can be stored until winter. The round and slightly flat fruits have a flat, dark red color when they are ready to pick and are firm to the bite. The Redini® 'Cuckoo' apples are ready for picking in mid-September and should then be stored for a few more weeks - two weeks is usually enough - so that the apples can develop their full flavor potential. The taste of Redini® 'Cuckoo' is fresh and sour with a striking berry aroma and a subtle sweetness.

As a columnar tree, Redini® 'Cuckoo' grows relatively quickly and reaches a final height of around 300 cm, but remains slim and narrow. Just like the Malini® apple varieties, Redini® 'Cuckoo' is also scab resistant.
