Variety description

The red currants of the Ribest® variety group are the result of many years of breeding work by Lubera. Ribest® 'Babette'® is the variety with the earliest ripening time in this range. It begins in mid-June and lasts until mid-July.

Ribest® 'Babette'® grows bushy and upright, but remains rather compact. It doesn't shed like other early varieties and delivers high, regular yields. The taste of Ribest® 'Babette'® is mild, so it has significantly less acidity than other red currants. The berries are suitable for snacking as well as for processing. They are juicy and have few seeds. In order to keep growth and fertility going, 2 - 3 older shoots are completely removed every year.
