Variety description

The cultivated blueberry 'Blue Dessert'® grows upright and bushy and reaches a height of approx. 120 - 140 cm over the years. As a classic moor bed plant, it loves acidic soil or a bucket with acidic moor bed soil. The flowering begins at the end of April or as late as May, which is why the variety is not endangered by late frost.
'Blue Dessert'® is a rather late variety, it only ripens at the end of August to the beginning of September. At high altitudes or in years with bad weather, the harvest can be further delayed. It may then last into October. The consequent ripeness has the advantage that you can harvest slightly ripe berries over a longer period of time. 'Blue Dessert' is also very suitable for growing in containers on balconies and terraces. Their intense orange-red autumn colors can be admired up close.
