Variety description

The shrub cherry 'Evans Cherry' was found in Canada, near the city of Edmonton - in the province of Alberta - almost 100 years ago. In all probability, this is an extremely compact sour cherry and not a "prairie cherry" in which the compact Prunus fruticosa has been crossed. Next to the shrub cherry variety 'Valentine', 'Evans Cherry' is the fastest growing variety and can reach a height of 3 m.
The fruits are from 'Evans Cherry' and are typical sour cherry fruits with a bright light red color and a slight sheen. As well as the fruity but acidic taste so typical of sour cherries. Therefore, the fruits of the bush cherry 'Evans Cherry' are mainly used for processing. Friends of sour fruits will certainly find a fresh treat possible.
