Variety description

The open-ground bush tomato OpenSky® ‘Schlingel Filou®’ differs from other bush tomatoes primarily in its growth habit. OpenSky® ‘Schlingel Filou®’ is a genetically compact indeterminate tomato variety with exceptionally short internodes. The majority of other bush tomatoes on the market are primarily determinate varieties.

OpenSky® 'Schlingel Filou®' is the counterpart to OpenSky® 'Happy Black®' in the bush tomato category. OpenSky® 'Schlingel Filou®' is a medium-sized cherry tomato with black-red fruits. The more exposed the fruits are, the more pronounced the black colouring becomes. Shaded fruits, on the other hand, may also be completely red. The fruits of OpenSky® 'Schlingel Filou®' have a spicy-sweet flavour with a subtle acidity and an umami note typical of dark tomatoes.

As a bush tomato with a compact growth habit, OpenSky® 'Schlingel Filou®' does not require pruning. This results in a tomato bush approximately 100 cm high and equally wide, bearing a profusion of ripe fruits.
