Variety description

With the Gamechanger® ‘Burbank’ autumn blackberry, we have finally achieved the ‘Autumn Bliss moment’ in blackberries. Named after the American breeder Luther Burbank in recognition of his contributions to plant breeding.

Gamechanger® ‘Burbank’ combines everything that has been missing from previous autumn blackberries. Gamechanger® ‘Burbank’ bears large black fruits on its annual canes, weighing a good 8 g on average; the fruits remain consistently sweet throughout the entire ripening period. What’s more, the plants are completely thornless. And the most important feature is their early ripening time. As early as the beginning of August – usually in the second week of August – the first ripe fruits can be harvested and enjoyed.

Growing Gamechanger® ‘Burbank’ in a home garden is incredibly simple. In early spring, once the coldest weeks are over (from around the end of February), all shoots are pruned back to 10 cm.
