Variety description

The blackberry 'Oregon Thornless' immediately catches the eye with its peculiar, feathery foliage, which seems to have fan maple or fern leaves. At second glance, one also notices that it is thornless. A synonym of the variety is 'Thornless Evergreen'. The name alludes to the fact that this blackberry is fairly evergreen, or at least keeps its foliage much longer than other varieties. 'Oregon Thornless' was one of the first thornless blackberry varieties on the market. It grows semi-erect, very strong and forms long tendrils. The ripening period is late, which is why the variety is only suitable for very good locations. In good years, the harvest begins at the end of August, usually in September.
