Variety description

Like all Cooltropics® varieties, Cooltropics® ‘Bora Bora’ is a perennial, self-climbing vine. Cooltropics® ‘Bora Bora’ is the first Cooltropics® variety to be self-fertile, meaning it does not require a second variety as a pollinator for fruit set. Cooltropics® ‘Bora Bora’ sprouts late in spring – usually not until the second half of May – but then grows all the more vigorously, forming a green wall after just a few weeks, with the first flowers opening immediately afterwards. The exotic and beautiful flowers of Cooltropics® ‘Bora Bora’ shine in a light violet-pink. As Cooltropics® ‘Bora Bora’ is self-fertile, a large number of egg-sized fruits form on individual plants. The fruits of Cooltropics® ‘Bora Bora’ begin to ripen from the end of August. When fully ripe, the fruits are a yellowish-green colour and have a slightly fruity scent. The flavour of Cooltropics® ‘Bora Bora’ is quite complex. On the one hand, there are the crunchy seeds; on the other, the fresh, fruity and aromatic flavour with distinct citrus notes.
