Variety description

Sea buckthorn is a member of the oleaster family and is a pioneer plant. It copes with very poor soil conditions, not least because it is able to bind nitrogen through its roots and make it available to plants. Since sea buckthorn is dioecious, you need a male pollinator shrub in addition to female plants nearby. 'Pollmix' is a very common male pollinator variety. The flowers are inconspicuous, opening before the foliage.

One male plant as a pollinator is sufficient for about 6 - 10 female bushes.
