Variety description

'Oca Tuberello' is the yellow counterpart of the red-skinned ocas. The difference is already visible in the habit of the plant. While the red-skinned ocas are slightly reddish brown to reddish purple pigmented, especially on the young leaves and towards the base of the stem, none of this is visible on 'Oca Tuberello'. The vigour of all ocas is roughly comparable, but it seems that 'Oca Tuberello' is somewhat more heat-resistant and stops growing somewhat less quickly in the summer. As a result, the foliage tends to develop more densely during the summer, while the height is around 40 cm, as with the other varieties.

With 'Oca Tuberello', too, harvesting takes place as late as possible. If only light late frosts are to be feared, the foliage can be protected with fleece during critical nights. The resulting prolonged cultivation can have a very positive effect on the tuber yield.
